I had a fun day today in Charleston!  There is so much to do in this city.  Even though I have not been here for quite a long time, I still love Charleston's charm.
There are many excellent restaurants here to choose from.  So we decided to try the which was excellent. Where else could you order mashed sweet potatoes, okra/tomatoes over jasmine rice, Crowder peas, squash casserole, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and deep fried cheese grits?  I ordered Fried Chicken with ham gravy, red rice and cornbread.  It was the best fried chicken I have ever tasted......Of course dessert was also ordered which included buttermilk pie, one of my favorites!

Some real southern comfort food

I love their logo...grits are good for you!!!

Our day also included some brief shopping which included some boutiques and  This is such a cool store which carries a variety of honey, soaps, creams, and miscellaneous items.  My purchases included a tee shirt along with some Tupelo Honey.

This would be great on biscuits or drizzled over your favorite yogurt.....This is a raw honey which never crystallizes and has a buttery taste to the tongue!

If you are ever visiting Charleston, make sure you visit these places!  I promise you they are worthwhile.

Thought I would share some fall decorating that I have done.  Since I am still in "living out of a suitcase" mode, I am not really in a great mood to full-blown decorating.  Oh well!  I will also miss the fall, crisp weather back at home in Pennsylvania.  However, since I am now down on the Carolina coast, weather will be different here since it is still in the mid to low 80s.

I just love this little Bittersweet pillow which I picked up in the PA area.

Dining Room Chair with Bittersweet Pillow and Bittersweet wreath hung via raffia
Dining Room Table with some fall colored leaves scattered amongst assorted pumpkins and acorns.

Happy Autumn!  Now I am craving a Caramel Apple or some Apple Cider, how about you????

Today I visited Wren, a restaurant located in Beaufort, SC.  Here is their website:  The menu was wonderful as I ordered Tomato Bisque and a Club Sandwich. I ordered Sweet Tea on this warm southern afternoon.

The decor was so unique and rustic.  The designer used a jute rug as a window treatment.  (See photo below).  Here are some photos that I snapped while having lunch.

Sweet Tea with a nice twist of fresh strawberry, orange and mint
Don't you just love the high back of this chair?

The lighting was also cool and I just loved the chalkboard with the wren logo.
What is one of your favorite restaurants?  If you ever visit the Beaufort area, I would highly recommend you to visit here for lunch.

Hi Friends:

I visited Beaufort today and had a fabulous time!  We went on a horse drawn carriage through the historic area.  There is so much to do in this city including fishing, biking, walking near the Beaufort River, dining, visiting galleries, museums, hiking, golfing, boating and much, much more!  I especially love the historic area with all of the old low country bungalows and antebellum mansions in the area amongst the spanish moss tree-lined streets.

I wanted to share some of my photos that I took while visiting.

If you ever get a chance and your visiting the South Carolina area, make sure you add Beaufort to your list.  It is well worth it!

Buttermilk Pie Anyone?

This weekend, I decided to make a Buttermilk Pie.  While living in the Low Country area now,  I have seen it on several menus and decided to try it.  Here is the recipe that I used for making the pie.  This pie is considered a Southern delicacy.

It really turned out great and I would definitely use the recipe again!

What is your favorite pie?

Hi Everyone:

How are  you?  News:  I have moved out of state and will be giving away a $25.00 Pottery Barn Gift Certificate if you can guess where I have moved.

Just wanted to share a photo (living out of boxes, of course).  We are now in a short term rental here, but am currently looking for my cottage dream.  Once I announce the winner, I will also change my blog name since I am no longer located in Chester County, PA.

Just started to sort out all the boxes that I have moved, so much fun!

Below are photos for the contest.  Please review and submit your guess under the comment section of this posting.

The first correct answer on my comment section will be the winner.  Only one guess per person, so make sure you do your homework.  GOOD LUCK!!!!  More clues to follow...

Clue #1--I feel safe with some of the world's best soldiers nearby.
