Reflections of 2012

I can't believe that 2012 is coming to an end. It was a exciting year for me moving into a new home and a new state. In February of 2012, we moved into our new home in Beaufort, SC.

The exterior of the home was painted and the back screened porch. White picket fence was also powered washed and painted a fresh coat of white paint.

See old posting of painting of exterior of home here.

You can also check out the before and after photos of the porch project here.

Since the home was only 8 years old and in mint shape, there were no really big updates that were needed at the time. However, there were some small, cosmetic projects that were completed. We painted the whole downstairs and hallway in a Benjamin Moore (Powell Buff).

Since the first floor is all one room, new Levolor bamboo shades were installed in all windows downstairs which I really love.

See previous posting here for dining room.

See previous posting here for living room.

All new stainless steel appliances were purchased for kitchen. More updates to the kitchen will be coming later (with updated subway tiles back splash). I am so excited.

New furniture was bought from Pottery Barn in living room. The dining room purchases included my new candle chandelier, antique farm table, and new bistro chairs and bench.

A new gallery wall going upstairs to the second floor was also created with my Nancy Thomas artwork. See previous posting here.

And last but not least, I started a small hand-poured soy candle business (Palmetto Wicks) in early October.  I was very busy with it and it was a lot of fun making candles!!  See here.

Hope you had a great 2012 and thanks for visiting!

Holiday Doors of Beaufort

Today on my daily walk, I had my camera and started taking photos of all of the beautiful homes that I pass on a daily basis. Here they are all decorated for the holidays!

This just went on the market, however, it only has 2 bedrooms!  Love the wreaths on the windows....I am in love with this home, it also has a tin roof which I adore......

Can you see the dog behind the iron gate?

Can you see the red bike behind the roping?
Isn't the potting shed adorable?  Love the color of the door, too and of course the wreath on gate!

I am loving the Bermuda shutters on this loft garage.

I also wanted to include a photo of my front porch too, of course!

Sometimes around the holidays, it is hard to get adjusted to the weather like this.  See the collard greens in the background?  They are harvested in December here, and grow from October-December since the summer months are too hot!

Hope you enjoyed the tour!  Thanks for visiting!

Snowflakes, Holly and Lori Mitchell Figurines

I can't believe Christmas is almost upon us. Here are some random photos around my home to share the joy of the holidays. Hope you enjoy.

I made some paper snowflakes and hung them by butcher twine on banister
Added some holly to my favorite enamelware pitcher
Added a simple red bow to topiary

Added ribbon to my wooden bobbin candlesticks

Collection of Lori Mitchell figurines, aren't these adorable?

Hope you enjoyed.
