Painting the Porch

Well I am painting my front porch and screened porch before it gets too hot down in the Low Country!  Basically I am just changing the color of the front door, floor and shutters.  I am using oil paint on shutters and door so it is taking longer to dry than regular latex paint.

Want to share a couple of photos of what I have done so far.  Will be back with updated photos once completed.  It is such a nice feeling when everything is freshly painted!!

Here is the original shutter color, I call it Olive Green

More to come.  Stay tuned...

Digging in the Dirt

Well its' spring and it is time to plant some herbs and vegetables in my raised beds.

I thought I would try brussel sprouts this year!  One of my favorite vegetables.....

Rosemary, Thyme, Chives and Oregano were also planted
Love my new watering can from Holland
Also trying artichokes

and of course, tomatoes!
Now the fun part of gardening is seeing the little ones popping up through the soil!

Back to gardening....hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Grain Sack Pillow and Runner and Giveaway Winner

Hello There!

I wanted to share something that I have ordered from Ann Drake.  Many of you probably know of her and her blog, On Sutton Place.  Well I found her items from another blog and just had to have one of her grain sack pillows and table runner.  Once I ordered them, she sent them to me in the mail and once I opened up her package, I fell in love with them.  So if any of you are not aware of her beautiful work, please visit her blog here.  She also has an Etsy Shop

Here are the photos of what she made for me.

I place this bakers tray as my centerpiece with some old vintage bottles that I have been collecting.

Here is a close up of the bakers tray.  Love the rusty patina.  I bought this at Paris Market in Savannah.

Love the blue stripe down the center
I also had a pillow made from grain sack

A Tour of My Neighborhood

Today is such a beautiful day, temperature in the low 80's.  I have decided that I will be doing jobs that need to be done outside so I can enjoy the weather.  Painting of the front porch is coming along, we had to power wash it first and then paint.
There is a green area in middle of the street which is 1/4 mile.  This is a great area for jogging, walking, biking.  We also have yearly neighborhood functions held here.

After taking a break from painting, I went for a walk around my street and took some pictures of my neighborhood.  Everything is coming to a bloom and it looks beautiful.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Oh Danny boy, the pipes the pipes are calling,
From glen to glen and on the mountainside.
The summer's gone and all the leaves are falling,
'Tis you must go, 'tis you must go and I must bide !

But come you back, when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hush and white with snow !
Then I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, I love you so !

And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.

And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, I love you so!

A New Spring Banner Added to Mantel

Hello There:

Yes I changed up my mantle again since I was out shopping and found this adorable Spring banner.  I also added another vase filled with azaleas.  I just love the fuchsia pink flowers!

I have had this skinny rabbit for years, it is one of my favorites

Azaleas added to green bottles
P.S.  Did you see the blue ceiling in my mirror?  Yes - I am keeping the ceiling the same and just repainting the walls a little different color!

Hope you enjoy your day!

Adding a Touch of Spring to My Mantel and Giveaway

Spring is just around the corner so I thought I would change things on my mantel.  I love spring and having the windows open with a breeze coming in along with birds chirping and flowers starting to bloom!

In my backyard near my garage, I have a tea olive shrub and the fragrance is so amazing!  I love walking past it and smelling the wonderful fragrance!

See the carrot hanging on the mirror, I bought it at Terrain in PA.  It is made of grapevine....One of my favorite decorations!  It was difficult to get a closeup.

Azaleas from my yard

Now for the giveaway a small wall vase.  Isn't she beautiful?  I had some azalea's in bloom, so stuck some in so you could see the effect.  Do you like it?  If you are interested in the giveaway, here are the rules:
