Adding Some Curb Appeal

Been very busy this week trying to finish up with the painting of the front and screen porch and have to say that it is coming along.  I just love the color of my shutters now!  Also while working outside on the porch, I noticed that there is a lack of plantings or landscaping in front of home.  There is also a big Ash tree in front of my home which provides some shade and also there is a gum ball tree near by.  Do you know what they are?  They produce these prickly type balls and when they fall to the ground they are a mess to clean up.

Here is a photo of the sweet gum ball.  They are prickly and messy!  Source:  Wikipedia

I took a ride over to Lowe's to research some ground cover for the front walkway.  I ended coming come with some Creeping Wire Vine.

I think this will be a excellent ground cover for this area
These need to be planted 6 inches apart

My plan is to plant them along both side of my walkway, oops!  I can see my toes!!

Mexican Fan Palm -- I planted two of these at the end of walkway

Once the ground cover starts to grow, I think the look that I want will be appealing to the eye!  What do you think?  Did you ever plant ground cover?

Well I need to get back to gardening!  Will hopefully have some updated porch photos sometime late this week or early next week depending on weather.

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. That's a great looking ground cover. Most of the ground cover I've planted is Ajuga near the house and Creeping Jenny near the pool. I love the palms too.

  6. I have one of those gum ball trees. I always call it a pokey ball tree because I keep stepping on those pointy things. I've never done ground cover before, but your's look very pretty and dainty. I think your plan will work out.
