Husk - Charleston, SC

There is a fairly new restaurant in Charleston, SC  called Husk that there are many good reviews on.  While researching on Trip, we decided to make reservations for brunch.  The chef, Sean Brock was awarded the James Beard Award and their dishes are made with ingredients from local suppliers only from the South including organic vegetables, fruits and organic meat farms.

I was very impressed with Husk and would definitely return.  Our brunch started off with a Peach Bellini.
Did you ever have a peach bellini?  It is made with peach nectar and champagne and is delicious!

For my main entree, I ordered a Monte Cristo and my husband had Shrimp and Grits.  (Forgot to take photos of our entrees, they were delicious!)

Here are just some random shots near the front of the restaurant looking out on Queen Street.

Table setting

I just loved this bird bath filled with hibiscus, asparagus ferns, etc.

While shopping at PB on King Street, I couldn' resist on taking this picture of this donkey-drawn carriage.
So if you are ever in the Charleston area, I would definitely try Husk located on Queen Street in Charleston, SC.

Thanks for visiting!

Got Blueberries?

Did you have a good weekend?  On Saturday, I went to my local farmer's market to pick up some vegetables and fruits.   While I was looking over fruit selection, I saw some plump, fresh blueberries.  I then took them home and made a blueberry streusel coffee cake.  While it was baking, the aroma was delightful.  I couldn't wait until it was done baking so I could have a taste.  I served it warm with my coffee and. would definitely make this again. I have included recipe here.

Enjoy your week.

Living Room Reveal

I am finally revealing my living room photos. I just bought a new iPad 2 along with new Canon Rebel T2i so been very busy learning technical stuff!

Here are the photos. Hope you enjoy.

The sea grass rug was purchased at Pharmacy lamp was just recently purchased from Ballard.

I just found these while shopping near by at a shop that sold cottage type items. Hoping to add to my collection so I can stack many of them!

This original oil painting was purchased recently at the Gullah Art Festival in Beaufort. It is so beautiful in person.

I am having so much fun with my camera so far. Now need to decide if I am going to change window treatments. Knowing me I probably will because I am not fond of my wooden blinds! Perhaps I will research some plantation shutters. I had them in my other home and enjoyed them.

Thanks for visiting. Have to get back to painting trim outside of home.

Sorry my photos are small, still learning Blogpress.

Fabulous French Find

Hope you all had a great weekend.

I had a wonderful weekend, weather was supposed to be a washout, however, we did not have storms until after midnight.

On Saturday, I picked up my chair from one of my favorite shops that is closing.    It was one of my favorite places to shop and dine.  They had  unique greeting cards, urban and/or french furniture, upscale apparel and even a small floral area.  I will really miss shopping there!  They also had a wonderful small restaurant that served lunch, tapas and live music on weekends and a delightful brunch on Sundays.  There food was to die for and I especially loved sitting outside on their brick patio for their brunch and hearing the sound of their water fountain nearby.

So for the final reveal, here is my find......

I just fell in love with it!  Love the washed look patina, upholstery and style!

Can't wait to complete my changes in living room to share with you.  Still waiting for a couple of items to come in the mail!  Stay tuned...........

Thanks for visiting!  Have a wonderful day!

Rearranging Living Room

Hi There!

Today in South Carolina it is cool; the temperature is about 83 degrees and it is perfect.  I have been doing all sorts of things around my home today.  Did you ever have a day where you just keep going and going?  I feel like I am in a fast mode today with lots of energy.  I have been working outside planting ground cover around patio, and washing the moss off of my picket fence.  I am also working in the home with other chores with cleaning kitchen and washing clothes.  In the midst of all of this, I am also trying to rearrange my living room.  My living room is large, however, there are only certain ways that you can arrange furniture in it.   I used to have sofa closer to the staircase, however, I like it in front of my three windows in the room.  Might still need to tweak a little but still working on switching around the other furniture.

Here is a sneak peek of what I have done so far.  Stay tuned.....

I just purchased the seagrass rug from

Basket from Land's End

I love having fresh flowers in my home!

I am having so much fun with my camera but still learning a lot!  Searching for photography classes near my home.

Have a wonderful weekend!

My Little Tea Cart

I have had this tea cart for years and use to have it in my kitchen....It served so many purposes.  Recently I decided to move it outside of  my new home and place on the patio.

I actually love the color (green) that it is but have decided to spray paint it back so it will match my patio table and chairs.

Here is the before photo:

Notice the yucky fence in the background, I have recently painted and added jasmine

Here is the cart painted black to match my patio set.

I won the glass bottles holding the yellow flowers from a giveaway at Savvy Southern Style blog.

Now see all of the background dirt, I will be adding ground cover to this area and hopefully it will take.  My patio is located off of my screened porch and there is a huge live oak tree near the patio to provide shade.  So since there is plenty of shade, I will have to find a ground cover that needs shade only.

Tomorrow I will be visiting some gardens in the area.  Hope to take some great photos with my new camera so I can share them with you.

Ooh La La - A Surprise Package in the Mail......

A surprise package came in the mail to me on Saturday --and guess what was in the package?

No it was nothing from Pottery Barn, nothing with Ballard, and nothing from Lilly.......It was a package that had a DSLR Canon Camera (Rebel T2i) inside!  Oh how excited I was!  So I ran up to the bay area before it became dark and  snapped some random shots!  To all you bloggers, any tips for taking photos? What do you think of these so far?  I know it will take practice, practice and more practice.

So here are the random shots for you to review....Now I will be able to get some awesome shots of inside my home, at  better angles and higher clarity (18 megapixels).

Thanks for visiting.
