SOME GOOD BARBECUE IN GEORGIA

Over the Labor Day weekend, we drove to St. Simon's Island, GA which is about 2 hours away from where I live.  Do any of you watch Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri?  Well, he had recently been to a barbecue joint called Southern Soul.  Oh, yes, the best barbecue I have ever had......

Here is the website of the restaurant:  www.southernsoulbbq.com.

Pulled Pork Sandwich with Coleslaw, YUM!
Beef Brisket Sandwich with Macaroni and Cheese

The restaurant has three big smokers outside of restaurant.  There are always huge lines outside of this restaurant.

And to end our delicious meal, we both shared a blackberry-blueberry cobbler right out of the oven!

Hope you enjoyed your long holiday.  Did you also have barbecue?

Thanks for visiting!

  2. Here up North, we just don't do barbeque as well as you do down South...and we have tried many places when we have been down! This looks just delicious...I'm sure it's worth it to stand in line!

  3. I love the new look! ( both the blog, AND your i.d. picture!)I am always finding strange coincidences on your blog. For example, our best friends have a house in GA. They go down once a month or so. They called us this weekend, telling us they were having a relaxing meal and drinks on St. Simon's Island! They live in St. Mary's GA. You may have been sitting right next to them!

  4. OMG Kelly--Southern barbecue is the best!! I am so drooling all over my keyboard after reading your post! I did not get to bbq last weekend because the weather was a little cool here, but it's warming up to the 90s tomorrow and through the rest of the week, so hope to get out to the grill then. Yum--this restaurant looks so good!

  11. I saw your link on Savvy Southern Style and as soon as I saw the "good barbecue in GA" I thought, "She MUST be talking about Southern Soul!" So glad you were! I tell all of my friends that the world's best barbecue is in St. Simons and they're not living life until they go down there and try it out!

  18. Oh, I love barbeque and a chopped beef sandwich is my favorite! It's amazing how different areas of the country have different kinds of barbecue. I could eat that sandwich for breakfast! :)
Thanks for popping in to see me.
