Vintage Laundry Basket

Hi There,

Hope you are having a great start to your week. How was your Memorial Day weekend? Mine was busy -- going to the beach, running, walking, painting, working in the yard, etc.

I wanted to share with you a recent find that I picked up at a local consignment shop near me. I have to say that I usually have luck at this store every time that I visit. So here is my find -- a vintage laundry basket. What do you think?

I added the basket to my bench at bottom of my bed and placed some pillows in it.

The basket only cost me $10.00.  YES $10.00.  Can you believe this?  I was so thrilled when I got it!

I remember my grandmother having a laundry basket something like this one that she would use daily for her wash.  Such good memories of her washing her sheets and hanging on her clothesline on a nice spring day and placing them in her willow laundry basket when dried.  Well actually my grandmother ironed her sheets, I can still remember this when she would iron her sheets and starch shirts with Spray Starch!!

Hanging sheets on a clothesline is one of my favorite things!  However, where I live now, no such thing!  So now I just place them in dryer, I do lightly iron them and when I have company, I spray the pillow cases and sheets with French Lavender Spray!  It smells so delightful!  Have you ever used Lavender spray on your bed linens?

Have you had any great finds lately?

Thanks for your visit!

Tool Caddy Flower Container

Hello There,

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I worked in the yard with potting flowers and mowing the lawn. About one year ago, I found this old tool caddy at a local consignment shop. I don't recall what I paid for it but it was not much. Anyway, the size is quite large so while working in the yard planting flowers, I came across my tool caddy and decided to plant some pink geraniums in it.

First, I drilled three (3) holes at bottom for drainage.

Then I filled the container with some good garden soil including fertilizer.  Then added geraniums.......

And there you go, a simple, fun flower container!

Now this is just placed here for now, however, I am getting ready to "fluff" up my blue front porch and will be back with the reveal soon!

Thanks for your visit!

Dehilleran's in Paris and Copper Pots

Do you love copper pots like I do? Well do I have some inspiration for you today including a cool kitchen shop in Paris that I visited which was copper heaven! First lets start with some inspiration of copper pots:

I saw the above pots all over Paris - aren't they just wonderful?

Now I want to share one of my favorite kitchen cookware shops in Paris - Dehillerin. When I was in Paris, I did not have a DSLR camera and therefore need to scan my photos from when we went there.

This shop was copper heaven! It is a family owned business that opened back in early 1820's and what a unique shop. If you love copper, then you will love to shop here! The store is filled from floor to ceiling with kitchen supplies for the French kitchen. When I visited there, several French chefs were in their attire including their high hats and all! What a great experience I had while shopping there and I could not leave there without purchasing some things for my kitchen back then! (Just wish I bought more copper!) Oh well, they do have a online catalog and they do ship) Here is my chef print from Dehillerin's - I shared it recently in my kitchen post.

One of my favorite pieces in my kitchen with the French chefs in kitchen

I also wanted to show you my copper pots that I bought at Dehillerins in Paris.

Love the patina on the lid--

I also included a site on how to clean copper with items you might have in your pantry:

Using vinegar and salt always does the trick for me in cleaning copper.

Do you have any copper pieces?  I am thinking about purchasing some more when I am in Europe again, however, will need to build another shelf in kitchen to store it!

Thanks for your visit.

Two Years of Blogging and a Giveaway!!!

Well, guess what? I am celebrating my 2 years of blogging and have to say it has been a wonderful experience for me.  I had no idea about blogging at all, however, I had been following several blogs in the past.  At first, I felt a little scared to place posts about my decor style or share anything on my blog.  However, as time went by, I started to feel more comfortable.

Blogging for me is actually a creative way to express myself and my interests.  I only blog as a hobby and not as a business.  No I don't post every other day like many bloggers do and really don't think I ever will.  Overall, blogging has been a wonderful experience to me and I hope to stay with it for years to come!

So onto the giveaway ---

I don't know if you remember my kitchen reveal lately but in the kitchen I had shown several tea towels and one of them is included in the giveaway.

I found this adorable Caravan tea towel on Etsy from the Hang Tight Studio.  The shop owner Heather is so sweet and full of talent.  Heather is a freelance designer and graphic illustrator.  Some of her clients include:  Pottery Barn, Red Envelope, Smith and Hawken and Starbucks.  Please feel free to visit Heather's website  here.

The winner will have a choice of the Caravan Tea Towel (shown below)  I just love mine!!

Or the choice of the Camera Tea Towel (see below)

Appliqued Tea Towel - Camera 100% Cottonhere.

To enter the giveaway, you must do the following:

1.  Be a follower of Coastal Cottage Dreams - one chance, comment separately please.
