My Thanksgiving Table Setting - 2013

Well I did it!  I finally finished up my table setting for Thanksgiving.  I wanted to have a very simple setting this year using autumn colors along with some natural elements.

By choosing this table runner with greens, rust, browns, golds was the perfect decorating element for the table.  Then by adding the green apple gourd, mini pumpkins, feathers and some Hypercium Berry was the look that I wanted accomplish.

Did you see my little turkey salt and pepper shakers, aren't they so cute?

My mercury container holding the feathers was a recent purchase at Paris Market in Savannah.

Pine cone turkeys were made by me with pine ones that I gathered, added feathers and pipe cleaner for the neck.

Close up of linen coaster.  I bought these at Jolie Home and Events in Beaufort.

So have you completed your table setting yet or have an idea on what you are doing?

Now for my menu:

Appetizer :  Sausage Balls

Roast Turkey
Homemade Stuffing Cups
Mashed Potatoes
Cranberry Salad
Braised Brussel Sprouts with Pancetta
Tossed Salad

Dessert:  Homemade Pumpkin Praline Pie with Homemade Whipped Cream

What is on your menu?

Pecan Pie Cookies

Recently I bought some pecans and was going though my ever ending recipes and came up with making these again.  I have had this recipe for quite a long time now so it was great to pull it out again and make them.  They are an easy cookie to make and taste great along with coffee or a glass of milk!

This cookie reminds me of a mini pecan pie.  The cookie part has a buttery, shortbread taste and the pecan filling on top is just the right match!

I have included the recipe below if you wish to try.  I don't think you will be disappointed in these.  In fact, at my home, they disappear quickly.

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

3/4 cup butter, softened

1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla

Heat oven to 350°F. Combine all cookie ingredients except flour and baking powder in large bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy. Reduce speed to low; add flour and baking powder. Beat until well mixed.

Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Make indentation in each cookie with thumb; rotate thumb to hollow out slightly.

Combine all filling ingredients in small bowl; fill each cookie with 1 rounded teaspoon filling. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets

Sharing Some Thanksgiving Table Setting Inspiration

Since Thanksgiving Day is right around the corner, I thought I would share some inspiration with you. I am loving all the natural elements incorporated into these settings, too!

Isn't this a cute idea for a children's table?  You got to love the pilgrim hat filled with crayons!  Also love the idea of using craft brown paper as tablecloth so they can doodle on it, too!

Now it's time to come up with something for my table.  I will be sure to share with you soon!

A New Chair for the Living Room

Hope you are enjoying your week. The weather here in SC has been so beautiful, still in the mid 70s. I actually have been enjoying running/walking on the beach a lot.

Recently I came across a photo of a chair that I fell in love with while surfing the internet. Yes - after drooling over it and staring at it for awhile on my laptop screen, I decided to place the order. Although it took awhile to receive it on my end, it was worth the wait! Since I have Pottery Barn slipcovered furniture, I knew that this would be a perfect fit for the room.

The chair is a wingback style and is also slipcovered. There are blue/gray grain sack stripes on the chair which fits perfectly in my color scheme since blue is one of my favorite colors.  The chair also came with a matching lumbar pillow.

What new things have your bought for your home lately?

Thanks for your visit!
