Simple Starfish Wreath

I wanted to change the wreath that I currently have on my front but still wanted to use the grapevine wreath. I had some extra starfish around so I got the glue gun out and started gluing the starfish to the grapevine.  How simple is that?  Well I did use some twine to tie the starfish for extra security.  I only wanted to have three starfish on the left hand side of wreath because I wanted to have a lot of grapevine showing!

This is such an easy project to create a nautical look!

I love how it turned out and especially love it against my blue coastal door!

Hope you are having a lovely Sunday!

Old Fashioned Bread Pudding

Recently I have been craving for some homemade bread pudding.  I honestly have not made it in years so I said to myself let's make one.

The recipe I have had for years and is quite easy to make.

I usually use day old bread when making this and have made it with various breads and croissants.
(During the summer, I like to add sliced peaches too!)

2 eggs
1 quart milk
1 cup sugar
8 slices of bread
1 cup raisins

Beat eggs, milk and sugar in a large bowl until well mixed.  Meanwhile, break bread into small pieces and add to egg mixture.  Stir in raisins.  Pour in bottom of baking dish.  (I use my Emile Henry Baking Dish for this).  Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg on top.
Bake for 350 for one hour. My dish size is 1 1/2 qt.

Here is more information on Emile Henry.  See here.  I fell in love with the Emile Henry line while visiting France and have bought these ever since for all baking needs.  Williams-Sonoma also carries the line.

Have you made bread pudding before?  How do you make it?  I would love to hear!

Thanks for your visit.

My Coffee Table Decision Has Been Made At Last

A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you a old cedar chest that I have had over 20 years but never used in my new home.  At last, I have decided not to paint it and leave as is.  I am so glad and I am happy with the natural wood look.

Over the weekend while in Hilton Head, I was shopping at Fresh Market and saw these beautiful hyacinth flowers so I had to have them.  After bringing the table down to the living room, I thought I would decorate it a little for the spring season.  I placed the lilac colored hyacinth flowers in an ironstone pitcher in the basket tray that I already had.  The bird nest was bought recently in a gift shop in Beaufort as I wanted to add some spring touches and texture to the tabletop.  I just shopped around the home for the other items for the table.

So there you have it.....some simple, yet spring like accents to my cedar chest coffee table that I just love!

I have had this metal rabbit for years and the bucket is waiting for some Hershey kisses in pastel colors to be added for it to hold!

Thanks for your visit!  Hope you are enjoying your week so far!

Wow, does time fly!  Did you notice the title of this post and wonder what I was referring to?  Well let me tell you,..,...ten years ago, my husband I  celebrated our wedding anniversary in Moorea,Tahiti!

I was actually surprised on this trip and did not know where I was actually going. Well I did figure out the trip (on the tarmac at LAX) once we boarded a particular airline. Hhmmm.....

We first took a flight to Los Angeles for a couple of days and then on to Moorea via Air Tahiti Nui.  The flight was wonderful and was filled with beautiful Tahitian flight attendants and music.  When we arrived at the Faa Airport in Papeete, French Polynesia, we were greeted with live Tahitian music and leis --- so beautiful! The flight from Los Angeles was approximately 8 hours and 45 from Los Angeles.  We then boarded a huge catamaran to Moorea and the Sheraton.

We stayed in a over-water bungalow which was absolutely gorgeous.  Yes, I could see the bottom of the lagoon from the floor of our room. So many different kinds of fish and marine life. It was sooooooo AMAZING!

From the white sand to the beautiful  turquoise water and beach you couldn't get any closer to PARADISE!  we also rode around Moorea on a moped.  This takes about an hour, with stops at a beautiful Vanilla Plantation.  Night life is limited here, so we were up early every day to explore the island.

Breakfast was brought to our over-water bungalow by a local Tahitian family......Is that cool or what?

This is the over water bungalow that we stayed in on the right side of photo....GORGEOUS!  Don't you agree?

Enjoying a typical French Polynesian Fire Dance!

Our anniversary dinner........

I have to say this was a wonderful place to visit and to celebrate our wedding anniversary!  Would I go back to visit, YES, IN A HEARTBEAT!

Hope you enjoyed my tour of a beautiful destination......

The Best Ever Sticky Buns

This morning, I made the best ever sticky buns!  Well - I mean to tell you they were awesome.  It all started last night with the dough mixture and letting it chill overnight.

This morning, I took out the dough to let it rise for a couple of hours.  Then rolled it out and filled with cinnamon mixture and topped with a brown sugar pecan glaze.  My house had the best aroma while baking these off this morning.

What is better than a warm sticky bun with a good cup of coffee in the morning?

Adding Pecan Brown Sugar Glaze

My husband and I were enjoying these wonderful sticky buns this morning on the front porch when neighbors stopped by.  We invited them to try a sticky bun and  now the baking dish is empty!

Recipe can be found here.

Decisions on My Blanket Chest and Upcoming Giveaway

Hello There, I have been enjoying the outdoors this weekend since the weather is in the low 70s here. The weather has been rainy for the last three days before the weekend, so I needed to enjoy the outdoors some. Anyway, I wanted to share a blanket chest with you that I have had over 20 plus years. In my other home in PA, I had this piece in the family room just as it is. I believe that it is made from cedar wood.

Now I am not actually using it in my home currently but am thinking that I would like to use it as a coffee table. As I am not a "paint furniture" person, I was wondering what your thoughts would be for this piece. I don't mind some painted furniture throughout my home, but I actually love the natural wood look instead.

So any help or suggestions on this blanket chest would be greatly appreciated.  Should I keep as is and tone down the "orange look" to this piece and how could this be done or perhaps paint the piece.

Don't forget to stop back soon as I am having a cute giveaway here....I am sure you will love it!!!
