A Toning Program That Works For Me

Hi There,

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!  It was so very humid here in South Carolina this weekend!

Today, I am sharing with you my latest toning/exercise program that I have been working on for awhile now and love.

It involves jogging at the local middle school near where I live, weights and exercise and of course, a healthy diet.

I have never enjoyed running even when I was a teenager.  I would try and then not proceed with keeping up with it.  Well I have to say I have been running for over a year now and never felt so good!  Of course, I started just jogging around the baseball field at the local school and then eventually running the school track which I now love.  The track is 1/4 mile and I usually run approximately 1 mile every other day and also walk around the track.

And of course I also exercise for abs (stretch, crunches, and planking) along with weights for the arms.

I just find various exercise programs on the internet.

Here are some sites that I have used for:

Crunches -- see here.

Dumbbell Exercises -- see here.

Arm Workouts -- see here.

Squats: see here.

I am sure if you google for what you are looking for, you will find tons of things!

My diet is a healthy diet which includes vegetables, fruits, grains, very little red meat.  And no sugary drinks!  I have never touched soda since I was a teenager.  Yes - I live in the Low Country where Sweet Tea is everywhere, however, rarely drink it.  I prefer water with fresh fruit or cucumbers!

I rarely eat sweets or desserts.  My breakfast includes oatmeal, fruit, coffee (yes I still have a little sugar in my coffee -- years ago I would use two teaspoons but now I am down to 1/2 teaspoon).  I do have two coffees in the morning.  I LOVE MY COFFEE!

For lunch, I usually have steamed vegetables or a NOOSA Yogurt (one of my favorite yogurts in the world). They can be found at Fresh Market.....

Dinners include salads, lean meats and vegetables.  No breads or rarely any starches!!

If I get hungry after dinner, I will snack on some low fat popcorn or some assorted nuts.

Although I wear a size 6 in clothing, I still want to keep toned and by exercising and running I feel that I have achieved this!

What kind of exercise program do you have?

Embroidery Hoop Art Craft

Hello There,

I recently visited a fabric shop in Beaufort called Tabby.  It is filled mostly with fabrics for quilting and crafts a long with other notions for quilting, embroidery and sewing. They also conduct sewing and quilting classes at their shop.

I have seen hoop artwork lately on Pinterest and thought it would be a great idea for one of my guest room walls.  Since my color scheme in the room is a light peach, I wanted to add some pops of coral to the wall.

While going through the various fabrics at Tabby, I picked out four different patterns for the hoops. The project was very easy and quick to make, my type of craft! HA!

- Embroidery hoop
- A scrap piece of fabric that is a few inches wider than the hoop
- Scissors
- Elmer's glue (you can also use a hot glue gun)

- Place the fabric in the embroidery hoop.  Make sure to pull the fabric so that it is taut.
- Flip the embroidery hoop over so that the wrong side is facing
- Place a small amount of glue all the way around the edge of the inside hoop.
- Press the fabric into the glue.

After glue is dried, your hoop art is ready to hang!

I found some neat printed fabrics that I loved and the colors (especially coral) was what I was looking for!

The Final Result:

Now you will have to stop back to see how I will be using them in my home!

Thanks for your visit!

A Beautiful Beaufort Garden

Recently there were some Beaufort Garden Days opened to the public!  Since I knew one was located in the Historic District, very close to my home, I wanted to go check it out!  Oh I am so glad that I did!

The garden is at one of my favorite homes in the historic area.  It is a older bungalow situated on a beautiful street lined with mossy oak trees!  I absolutely love everything about this home including the front porch, beautiful gardens, tin roof, white picket fence and the charm that comes along with it!  Hopefully I can find a home similar to this on my next moving adventure to North Carolina!!!!

Adorable Bungalow in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Love the brick border here.

Love the herringbone pattern brick sidewalk

There were many people congregating in the garden area so photos were hard to take.  Many pots and planters of gorgeous flowers covered the patio area and along the porch.  What really made this garden was the intricate brick pathways meandering throughout the area.

Hope you enjoyed this tiny tour of the garden!

A Coastal Tablescape and My Recent Winning

Since the weather is still cooperating here in Beaufort, I wanted to share a summer tablescape with a nautical twist.  I love all the pops of color in this tablescape and are perfect for entertaining for the summer months ahead!

Did you notice the starfish napkin rings?  Well recently I was the lucky winner of these cute starfish napkin rings hosted by Starfish Cottage.  Thanks Kristy!  If you are not familiar with her blog, please stop by!  I promise you that you will love her decorating style!

They napkin rings were wrapped in turquoise tissue paper and adorned with a raffia bow and a little thank you card.

The centerpiece is glass filled with painted driftwood.

I love dining outside on on my patio in the summer months.  My table is in the shade of a Live Oak tree providing a small, cool oasis during the Beaufort summers!

Easy Chocolate Biscotti

Do you like biscotti?  I do and had so much of it in Tuscany with my coffee in the morning.  It has just the amount of sweetness for me and I don't feel guilty eating it like a big hunk of cake and all of its calories! HA!

After making and trying all kinds of biscotti, I recently found a chocolate almond biscotti that I have to say was so easy to make, yet delicious!

Biscotti (/bɪˈskɒti/Italian pronunciation: [bisˈkɔtti]; English: twice cooked), also known as cantuccini (English: coffee bread), are twice-baked cookies (or biscuits) originating in the Italian city of Prato. The biscuits are oblong-shaped almond biscuits, made dry and crunchy through cutting the loaf of dough while still hot and fresh from baking in the oven.

Recipe can be found here.

Thanks for your visit!  If you try these, I would love to hear how they turned out......

Sneak Peek of Some Little Changes in Guest Bedroom

How has your week been?  Mine busy....It has actually been beautiful here in Beaufort with a little breeze.  I was able to get some things done inside and outside of my home.

Since our home is on the market now, I am getting a little antsy to do some decorating projects around the home.  You know when you have your home for sale, you need to have everything looking so great!

I wanted to share a little peek of one of my guest bedrooms.  I have added some little pops of color for the summer months ahead.

Will be back with the full reveal.....I have some other things to add to this room before that can happen!

Hope you will stop by!

I Love the Month of June

Hello There,

Happy June!  Can you believe it is here already?  I have always loved the month of June.  How about you?  When I was a child, I always looked forward to June since that was the month when school was out!

I have three other sisters and one brother so June was the month that we would start going to our Swim Club....

I also would would visit the New Jersey beach along with my grandmother which I always looked forward to.

June is also my birthday and I always had family gatherings/picnics.

I also wanted to share my art from Nancy Thomas Gallery of Yorktown, Virginia.....(Perhaps I have shared it awhile ago but I have a wall gallery with all of the months of the year).  I just love it!

So do you have any plans for the month of June?
