My Trip to Prague

We stayed in Berlin the first segment of our trip and then went onto Prague via train.  It was a 4.5 hour train ride.  I loved the ride since we were able to see the beautiful countryside of Germany and Prague.

Prague is the capital and largest city of Czech Republic.  The population is approximately 1.25 million.  Prague's consists of various collections of architecture including Gothic, Romanesque, Renaissance, Baroque, and Art Noveau.

I love how seating is available outside, in fact, we ate outside every meal.  We were thankful for beautiful weather, too!

There was a Czech festival in the square with music and entertainment.  I fell in love with the wicker stroller and the handmade Czech pillow and stroller blanket.

We saw these pastries on every corner of Prague.  They are called Trdelnik.  They are a cinnamon pastry that are rolled on dowels over coals and baked until golden brown.

Walking over the cobble stoned Charles Bridge......

Entertainment: We attended a concert in the Lichtenstein Palace.  I wanted to take more photos however no cameras were permitted.

One of my favorite Czech bakeries in Prague.  I loved their Illy Americano coffee too!

My favorite meal in Prague was at Savoy Cafe see here.  I had the best Baked ham brioche bread with Gruy√®re cheese and poached egg.  Oh, they also have a patisserie, so on my way out, I ordered a delicious fruit tart to go!

So long Prague!  It's time to go back home!

I hope to come back to visit you soon!

Three Day Weekend - Good Things

Hello There,

Hope you had a wonderful long weekend!  This was our first weekend back from our Europe vacation so it was quite busy.  If you didn't see my post on Berlin/Prague yet, see here.

Our weekend started with a concert to see Dave Matthews Band.  It was held at Walnut Creek Ampitheater in Raleigh, what a beautiful venue and we had perfect weather too!  It was the first time seeing him in concert and it was great!!!!

We also went to a Balloon Fest nearby.

My husband tried some craft beer at here.  Ever since we came back from Berlin and Prague, we crave wood fired pizza.  Yes - the pizza in Prague was sooooo good.  (Almost better than our pizza in Tuscany on our last vacation!)  I found great reviews on a restaurant in Chapel Hill, Brixx, so we thought we would give it a try.  I ordered the Wild Mushroom Flatbread Wrap with Quinoa Salad and my husband ordered a wood roasted tomato pizza.  Nothing is better than a Wood Fired Pizza!

While grocery shopping, I picked up some fresh blueberries and made a blueberry flan over the weekend too.

I even made Lola sport a flag for Memorial Day in honor of our country's armed forces.

Did you do anything special for your three day weekend?

Now back to catching up on laundry from my vacation.

Have a lovely week.

My Visit to Berlin - May 2015

Hi There,

I am back from my wonderful trip of Berlin and Prague.  Lots of photos were taken so I thought I would do two posts for my trip.  This post will only be about Berlin.  I will do another separate post on Prague.

We had beautiful weather in Berlin, we were so lucky.  I really loved Berlin and would definitely go back there again.

Here are some photos -- I took so many photos but will just share some with my readers.....

Brandenburg Gate

While visiting the gate, there was a group protesting Vladimir Putin and a large police presence.  Many roads were blocked during this time.

Hotel - Adina at Checkpoint Charlie.  It was such a nice hotel and within walking distance to Checkpoint Charlie and Berlin Wall.  In fact, we did so much walking but I love to walk so that was no problem at all.

The food in Berlin was wonderful too!  We tried all types of food while in Berlin.  Sausages, veal schnitzel, spaetzle, pork knuckle are some of the popular foods!  Oh we also can't forget beer!

1.  Pork Knuckle and Kraut
2.  Sausages and Kraut and Potatoes
3.  Berlin Meatballs, Creamed Carrots and Potatoes
4.  Pretzels

My favorite meal was weiner schnitzel from Borchardt in Berlin.

Berlin is a bike friendly city!

Well that's all for Berlin!  Stop back, I will share some photos of Prague next!
