Summer Time is Ice Cream Time

Hello There,

How is your week going so far?  I can't believe it is the last week of July already, summer is sure flying by!

During the summer months, I always make a homemade ice cream.  Hot summer weather  reminds me of my childhood when my local ice cream truck would ring his bell in my neighborhood to sell his ice cream.  My sisters and brother would run excitedly to the truck, we actually called him by his name, Henry, since he was our regular ice cream person!

I made some awesome homemade banana ice cream over the weekend and it was perfect for the hot weather here in NC.  The recipe is quite easy and was made in my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker.  I love it!  Recipe can be found here.

Just love these adorable ice cream cups that I found at HomeGoods......

So what is your favorite flavor of ice cream?  I love banana, mint chocolate and pralines and cream!

Shopping for a New Headboard/Bed

I am thinking about changing over my bedroom eventually and thought my first step would be to buy a new headboard.  I started to view them while surfing the internet.

I currently have a iron bed and do like it but just want a change.  Here is a photo of my iron bed.....

Here are some beds/headboards that I am swooning over lately.

So which was is your favorite?  I am unsure at this time but I still have plenty of time....No hurry on my end.

Have a great weekend.

Getting Prepared for the Big Move/Selling Some Household Items Too!

Today I am going through a Country French magazine on some amazing eye candy and getting ready to pack up for another move!  Yes -- I am finally settling into our home very soon!  Can't wait to call it my own!

I love these paint colors listed here!  Can't wait to do some new paint colors in my new home too!

It's hard to tell from photo but I am loving the BM, Kentucky Haze paint, it would be perfect for a bedroom. I am also swooning over the Farrow & Ball French Gray.....

In the meantime, I am selling some house items via blog in case I have some readers perhaps located near the RTP area (I think I do according to my Statmeter!)  If interested in any and you live nearby, you can email me at kellywc818@hotmail.com.

Below are two galvanized stools that I had at my cottage in Beaufort, SC.  They are in great shape and rarely used.  They are 30" high.  $40 for the pair.

Here is a pair of floral peony/rose prints.  $30 for the set.  They would go great in a bedroom!  The frames are an off white with a floral motif carving.  The size is 22" wide x 17" length. SOLD

I will be posting more as soon as I go through everything!

Can't wait to start decorating my new home!

Global Girls Sandals - I Love Them!

I went into one of my favorite apparel/accessory shop, Sophia's.  There shoes are just amazing.  I came across these real, cool sandals (Global Girls) and just had to have them.

Deciding on which one I loved the most..........
sorry, Iphone pic.....

The above photo are the ones that I decided on.   I am so glad that I chose them, they were on sale for $75.  They are perfect for summer!

The shoes are made by impoverished Kenyan artisans.  They are just adorable, they are made with leather and some are embellished with beads.  I am totally in love with them!

You can read about the company here.  It's a wonderful story on how a community of people  are able to be trained artisans in promoting beautiful workmanship and improving their lives.

Here are some other styles that I found on their site:

I went to brunch in Chapel Hill to one of my favorite places, Venable Bistro.  They have the most amazing Brioche French Toast.

Enjoy your week!  I hope you are enjoying your summer, too!

Cozy Cottages

Hi There,

I love cottages and have always wanted to own one.  Well I did have a cottage when I lived in Beaufort, SC but I sold it almost a year ago.

Since I am dreaming over a cute, cozy cottage, I wanted to share some inspiration.....

This has been one of my most popular pins on my Pinterest board.  Of course, I took it while I was living in Beaufort since it was one of my favorites there!

Have a lovely week.

P.S.  Still house hunting, no luck in finding that special cottage.  Oh well, I will still be happy with what we end up purchasing!  I can still make it my "Home Sweet Home."

Asheville and Hot Springs, NC

I recently escaped for a weekend getaway to Hot Springs, NC.  If you missed the B&B that I stayed in, see here.  While there, I also visited Asheville since our B&B was so close.  I love visiting Asheville for its beautiful scenery (Blue Ridge Parkway,  Biltmore and live "mountain" music, and trying different restaurants.)  This time was mostly spent on shopping and dining. One of my favorites was Rhubarb.  I had the most wonderful salad consisting of farro, broccoli, asparagus, purple onion, goat cheese, mint green goddess dressing along with chapata bread.  So GOOD!

Of course my husband loved Asheville since it is considered "Beer City USA".  Asheville has more than 21 craft breweries.  Craft beers are one of his favorites!  One of his favorite breweries was Wicked Weed.

We sat outside on the patio of the restaurant.  I just adored their ceiling made of recycled tin....

While in Hot Springs, we also went to the Hot Springs Resort and Spa.  The tubs are supplied with a continuous flow of World Famous Natural Hot Mineral Water.

IPhone Pic of the rustic building which houses the spa tubs.

The tubs are located along the Spring Creek.

It was definitely worthwhile visit and the mineral water was perfect for relaxing the mind and muscles.

Have you ever experienced warm mineral water spas?

My Getaway to a Beautiful B&B in North Carolina

I recently stayed at a gorgeous B&B near Asheville, NC.  The home was located in Hot Springs, NC, 20 minutes from Asheville.  I loved the rustic home and the location.  It was located 300 feet above the Laurel River and our views from the porch were spectacular.

This was the view from the deck

They also had a jacuzzi which was so relaxing......

Continental breakfast (scones, coffee cake, yogurt, fresh fruit and granola were served each morning.  I loved sitting on the deck overlooking the river.  So BEAUTIFUL!

I stayed on the second floor of the home and had a sitting room, bathroom and two bedrooms.

The bed was so beautiful - it had some sort of stone inserts....so rustic looking!

This photo is taken from the bottom near the Laurel River looking up to the B&B nestled within the trees.

Overall it was a great and relaxing getaway.  Be back to share my visit in Asheville and Hot Springs.

Have a lovely week.
