"Boo" Mantle Bunting

It's a rainy day here in NC this morning.  I am just relaxing and having my second cup of coffee.

I wanted to share my mantle with you and some other small touches of fall throughout my home.

I think this is my favorite Halloween decoration that I have.  They are called "Candy Corn Kids" by Lori Mitchell.  I also have a Christmas collection.....

Vintage baking wooden box filled with pinecones, antler and mini pumpkins.  I love my demijohn too!

A simple wired mesh beaded basket filled with mini pumpkins.

I can't believe the month of October is almost ending.  I think October is one of my favorite months. Soon we will be pulling out our holiday decorations, can you believe it?

Day Trip to New Bern, NC

Last weekend, I took a road trip to New Bern, NC which is about two hours away from where I live.  I have been reading a lot about this town so I packed up and hit the road.  It is a quaint town filled with quaint cafes, art galleries, antique shops and much more.  It is also the birthplace of Pepsi.

I love this spinning wheel

It was a picture perfect Fall day and the temperature was just below 60 degrees.  So instead of wearing shorts and a top, I wore pants, denim shirt and took a cape along with me since I knew I would be close to the water.  It was chilly at first but once I kept walking I was warm in a quick manner.

New Bern has beautiful historic homes that I just swooned over too!

I am now going to just share photos with no captions.  Sit back and enjoy!

I love all the wrought iron on this home!

Well I hope you enjoyed the tour!  I am looking forward to visiting New Bern in the spring again to spend more time!

A Peek in My Kitchen

I wanted to share with you my kitchen today.  It is a cozy kitchen with everything located at my fingertips and can be entered through my dining room or my entryway.  It is a well lit room with a light gray paint on the walls, white cabinets and gray tile floors.  My appliances are all black (which I never had before).  I have always had stainless steel but I do like these in my kitchen so no need to change them at all since they are in great shape)  If and when they do need replaced, I don't think I will go with stainless steel again.  I personally like the GE Vintage Style appliances and probably will stay with black appliances.

My counter tops are Corian which I love and don't think I will replace them with Granite.  I had granite installed in my last home in Beaufort, SC and was not that impressed with them.  I am happy with my Corian as is along with my seamless sink which I love.  The only small project I would like to do to my kitchen is add some kind of back splash (tin, tile, etc.)

Oh I almost forgot that I still have my brand new pendant light from Pottery Barn that I had back in Beaufort which I was going to place in my kitchen there but decided to put the home for sale and I am glad that I did not hang the light.  So now I can hang the new light over my sink in this kitchen!

Will show you again once I get in contact with a electrician or possibly pester my husband!

Thanks for your visit!

A New Blog Name

Hello Friends:

Just a quick note letting you know that my new blog name has been changed to Sunflowers with Smiles.  Since I no longer live on the coast of SC, I thought it was appropriate to change my name from Coastal Cottage Dreams (old blog name) to my new current name.  All of my followers who have followed me through Coastal Cottage Dreams (when I was living in the Low Country) will be redirected to this new site of Sunflowers with Smiles.

For my new followers, I have just recently bought a new home in North Carolina and hope you will follow me on my new journey.  I hope you will check back periodically and see my changes and projects that I will be doing in the near future on my home.

Since sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers, here is a photo taking back in Pennsylvania that my brother-in-law sent to me!  Aren't they just gorgeous?  I arrived in PA just a little too late to take them.  Thanks Alex!

Chester County Day Home Tour

Hello There,

Last week I visited my family back in Pennsylvania and had a busy schedule.  We went to Chester County Day (home tours).  It was held on Saturday and the weather was chilly along with a light rain.  Although no photos were permitted inside of the homes, I tried to take some photos of the homes outside with Iphone since I didn't want to take my good camera in the rain!

This was the 75th year of this event and is one of the oldest running home tours in the country.

Here are some of the homes that I managed to take.

I especially love this one, I did not get the whole home I wanted to share the lacy wrought iron in this photo.  I just adore it!

Isn't this brick oven adorable too?

This was one of my favorite doors on the tour.  I love the intricate wood doors along with the beautiful wreaths.  JUST BEAUTIFUL!

Afterwards we enjoyed a hot bowl of Apple and Butternut Square soup.  It was the perfect choice for a chilly day....

I hope you enjoyed the tour!
