Homemade Pumpkin Bread and Eye Candy from My Favorite Antique Shop

Over he weekend I pulled out my recipes and made one of my favorites for the fall - Pumpkin Bread.  It's usually a tradition for me to make something with pumpkin before the holidays arrive.

My kitchen smelled amazing with scents of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg.  I actually enjoy having a slice of pumpkin bread with my morning coffee.

Here is the recipe if you want to try it.

1 2/3 cup flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin (I used Trader Joe's Organic Pumpkin)
1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 cup water
**1/2 cup raisins - optional

In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg and cloves.  Meanwhile, in small bowl, whisk eggs, pumpkin, water and oil until moist.  Stir into dry ingredients until well mixed.  Fold in raisins if desired.

Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 65-70 minutes or until toothpick inserted into bread comes out clean.  Cool in pan for 10 minutes before placing on baking rack.

I have been quite busy this month as I am working part time at one of my favorite antique stores right around the corner from me for the holidays.  When I moved from SC to NC, I found this store and have bought several things for my home there.  I am happy that I am working there during a fun filled season.  (My whole check will be going to the shop, I have to say!)  FYI - they also sell MMS Chalk Paint!

Here is some photos of the shop from the outside -- (some serious eye candy, don't you think?)

Around the home:  My paint color has been decided on and I am now ready to tackle the powder room, I really want to move on this and have it done before or after Thanksgiving.  Christmas decorating won't begin until the weekend after Thanksgiving so I think the painting will be done in plenty of time before the holidays!  My husband has volunteered to paint ceiling while I am happy on painting the walls!  I really don't mind painting but music is always needed while I am painting any room!  How about you?  Do you love to paint with music in the background?

Oh and I now have a iPhone6.  I am in love with it and use it quite often now instead of getting out my Canon!  It is perfect for Instagram too!

Have a lovely week!

  1. Hello Kelly...I am one of your new followers. I don't blame you with working at an antique shop, the entire paycheck goes to all the "goodies" there. Looks like a fun place. I am with you too on projects...there has to be music and its 80s all the way for me. Have a great week!

  2. Thanks for sharing the recipe, Kelly, it looks wonderful. I'm going to give it a try. We don't have canned pumpkin in our stores, I think it would be all right if I just cooked and mashed my owned.

  3. I just pinned your recipe to my Yum! board on Pinterest. I'm not big on pumpkin pie, but I do like pumpkin bread.
