Hooray! It's Summer

Well it's summer!  Can you believe it?  It has been a great summer so far!  I am looking forward to some more day trips that we are planning in the fall when it cools down. Currently I am working on plans to visit Boone, Blowing Rock and Asheville, NC and then a trip to Pennsylvania.

Summer to means fresh flowers!  I love to have fresh flowers in my home especially during the summer months since they are so plentiful!  There are so many to choose from and I love buying bouquets from the local farmer's market, too!

Some of my favorite blooms are hydrangeas, peonies, roses and of course sunflowers!!

I currently have hydrangeas in my home.  You can arrange flowers in so many containers -- I like using vintage bottles and mason jars.

On my recent visit to Colonial Williamsburg, VA I came across this beauty in Williamsburg at Home. I have always swooned over tiger maple and I just feel in love with it!  It fits perfectly in a corner in my dining room.

Love the apron and spoon legs on this beauty!

I went to a Pop Up Tent art show and came home with this adorable piglet!  The artist is so talented! She creates her paintings on old reclaimed barn wood.  There were so many to choose from, I know I will be visiting her sometime soon for some more fun art for my home!

I hope you are enjoying your summer!

A Peek into the Master Bedroom

Hello There,

Hope you are enjoying your spring so far.  Can't believe it is almost the middle of June!  I love the month of June, so many things going on!  I have been enjoying our refreshing community pool and doing a lot of running and walking on all of the various trails within our neighborhood.  It is the perfect weather to enjoy the outdoors!

Today I wanted to share some photos of my master bedroom so far!  It is a large room with vaulted ceilings which I just LOVE!

There are still some things that I have on my TO DO LIST, however, I wanted to share what I have done so far.

Still searching for a floor mirror near my bed, vintage chair and perhaps some added window treatments!

Bedding - Garnet Hill

This is one of my favorite finds - my French Market Basket that I found in Savannah!

Vintage chest for storing extra pillows and blankets

Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead!

Strawberry Bread and Pink Peonies

I love anything with strawberries.  How about you?  I am sharing a recipe that I have been making ever since I was married.   The recipe was from a cookbook that was given to me at my wedding shower.

***See recipe below...

I have been swooning over pink peonies lately, too!  I usually buy them at our local Farmer's Market or Trader Joe's.

I love the look of the mason jar inside my vintage grain scoop, too!

I hope you have a lovely week.

In large bowl, sift together 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 2 cups sugar and 3 cups flour.

In small bowl, beat 4 eggs, with 1 1/4 canola oil.  Stir in 1 (10 ounce) strawberries, thawed.  Add egg mixture to the flour mixture and mix well.

Pour into a greased 9 x 5 loaf pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Around the Home

Hello There,

Lately I have been trying to get some projects done around the home before it gets too hot!  The upstairs bathroom is one project that I want to start as soon as possible.  Our home is less than ten years old, so nothing major needs to be done!

Here is my checklist for the bathroom and current photos of what it looks like now:

- I want to freshen up the room with a coat of paint (Benjamin Moore - Gray Owl).
- Remove old mirror and replace with an oval or square mirror preferable in white
- Replace the old "Hollywood Lights" over vanity with a farmhouse style light (I DISGUISE THEM)
- Add a new shower curtain and some new plush bath towels.
- Oh and perhaps add some new decor for the walls (I will shop from my home first to see if anything will fit first).

Here are some inspirational photos that I found on Pinterest for lighting so far:

I am looking for a mirror similar to this one above.....

Hopefully I will begin on this room sometime this week.  It is amazing how just a coat of paint can make such a great improvement!  Don't you think?

I also wanted to share some photos of other parts in my home.  I recently purchased this cottage style piece (I am using it as a dresser in the guest room). I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH IT AT FIRST SIGHT AND KNEW IT WOULD BE A GREAT FIT!

I just love this original artwork of a Shrimper in the Low Country that I purchased at a Beaufort, SC gallery when I lived there.

Not sure if I have shared this before but I found this dough bowl in an antique shop nearby for my farm table.   I love the added lavender to the bowl, too!

And last I am sharing some photos of my dining room:

The vintage buffet is a recent purchase too!  It is painted in Paris Grey - Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

I can't believe it has been almost one year since I left for my trip to Prague and Berlin.

We have decided not to visit Europe this year so we are visiting places in the U.S.  I just recently came back from Pennsylvania visiting my family.  It was so nice to see all my sisters and one brother. Our next trip we are planning is visiting our friend in Beaufort, SC.  I am looking forward to it!  We also have other trips that we would like to do - Asheville, Williamsburg and Boone, NC.  I am currently on a hunt for a large tobacco basket for a bare wall in my living room and I should be able to find one in the mountains of North Carolina!  (Fingers crossed)!

Well this is what is going on in my little world -- hope all is well with you all too!

Thanks for your visit!

Hello from Pennsylvania

It's been awhile since I wrote a blog post, just busy with other things at this time and enjoying my new home.

Last week, I took a quick flight to Pennsylvania to visit family.  The weather was so beautiful so I got to be outdoors and enjoy the lovely weather with family.

We did alot of walking on some beautiful trails nearby and also visited Longwood Gardens, one of my favorite places!  Overall it was a great time sharing good times with my family!

Oh, and I couldn't resist a stop at one of my favorite garden shops, Terrain.  Oh how do I miss living so close to this place!  We also did some clothes shopping at one of my favorite places, Anthro.

The rest are just shots near my sister's home.

I also had fun building sand castles with my niece, Jenna.

I hope you are enjoying your Spring!
